Rionegro, Chile was the site of the first club championship for the entire Americas with semifinals on Saturday and the final games on Sunday. Jenifer Munoz led Malvin to a 78-64 win over Centauros, the lone participant outside of South America. Hosts University of Chile made changes to the roster that got them to this point, including a professional debut for Taylor Hosendove, but lost to Antioquia, which also made a few tweaks, 82-58. There was a ton of drama on Sunday as the third place game was excellent and then there was a long facility delay after regulation, but the hosts sent their fans home happy with a brilliant Tatiana Gomez effort getting them the 99-94 double-overtime win over Kristen Spolyar and Centauros. The finalists started over an hour after the scheduled tip and South American champions Antioquia from Colombia faced Malvin, which made it to this competition on their play in Uruguay. Antioquia overcame the delay and Jenifer Munoz’s latest efforts to win the championship 74-54.
