Spanish League Round 9

Only one game in this round was not on Saturday, starting with Ensino winning 76-71 at Celta. Avenida had to rally late to get past Sedis 65-59. Estudiantes defeated Barcelona 64-53. Bembibre is still winless after losing to Jairis 73-55. Alba Prieto and Ibaeta defeated their Basque Country neighbors Araski 71-58. Jade Loville led Gran Canaria again, but they lost to Girona 83-64. The day ended with Valencia’s 66-55 win at Ferrol. Zaragoza finished up the round with an 88-56 defeat of Gernika on Sunday.

Turkish League Round 12

The round started on Saturday with Terezia Palenikova having a strong start alongside Khadijiah Cave and Danielle Robinson for Tarsus, but Natasha Mack and Botas left with an 87-84 win. Hatay continued to struggle even with a good game from Jaelyn Brown as they lost to Dana Evans, Li Yueru, and Besiktas 98-75. Fenerbahce sits at the other end of the standings as Natasha Howard led them in an 84-68 win over Kayseri. Emma Cannon and Jessica Thomas helped Nesibe Aydin complete a comeback for a 74-70 win over Bursa. Sunday started with Goksen Fitik and Orman having a strong second half to win 88-63. Having the entire trio of Destanni Henderson, Aisha Sheppard, and Kelsey Bone was not enough for Antalya and Jaime Nared and Izmit left with an 89-83 win. Down a key player, Vionise Pierre-Louis and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough nearly helped Cankaya University get the win, but Galatasaray’s Belgian backcourt of Hind Ben Abdelkader and Julie Vanloo helped them prevail instead 86-78.

This round started on Saturday with Landes not always looking their best, but they completely dominated the final frame to win 82-53 over Emmanuelle Tahane and Saint-Amand behind Luisa Geiselsoder. Tarbes was able to return to action with seven senior players led by Marie-Paule Foppossi and defeated Roche 66-58. Landerneau finally got their first win, but it took overtime for Roxy Barahman and Amy Okonkwo to lead them past Monique Akoa and Charnay 79-70. Lyon continued to hit their stride on Sunday, getting two more players back in the lineup and hanging on to hand Shavonte Zellous and Villeneuve-d’Ascq their first loss 84-82. That result allowed Bourges to move into a tie for first place with a 79-59 win over Angers. Jasmine Walker turned in what might end up being one of the season’s most impressive performances for Charleville-Mezieres, but Alisia Jenkins and Ameryst Alston helped Lattes Montpellier win 94-76.

This round started on Saturday with DVTK doubling up Vasas 72-36. Kolby Morgan and Barbara Angyal helped BEAC surprise Julia Boros, Jacinta Monroe, and Szekszard 82-79. Sunday’s games started with Debora Dubei firing Gyor past MTK 81-75. The two winless teams met and Santa Baltkojiene made sure that it was Szigetszentmiklos that prevailed 70-53 against Cegled. Sopron continued to look strong at full strength with a 79-53 win over PEAC.

Laura Spreafico and Oderah Chidom teamed up to lead Ragusa past San Martino di Lupari 87-60. Sesto San Giovanni made it interesting late before losing to Venezia 63-57. Campobasso defeated Faenza 61-56.

One game in this round will be played later, but there were two games on Saturday, starting with Dragana Stankovic and Polkowice getting a challenge from Torun, but staying perfect with a 67-63 win. The two teams that struggled last season also met with KeKe Calloway and Bydgoszcz keeping Pruszkow winless 83-71. On Sunday, Rennia Davis and Barbora Wrzesinski led Arka Gdynia to an 83-68 win over Sleza Wroclaw. Zaglebie Sosnowiec was stronger late to get past Kylee Shook and Lublin 71-66 to end the weekend.
