EuroLeague Round 8

Group A:

This round started with one game on Tuesday in this group and Fenerbahce stayed perfect after Emma Meesseman and Natasha Howard led them to an 88-64 win over Valencia. On Wednesday, DVTK opened the second half of the campaign with another win, defeating Lyon 70-64 to leave the visitors needing a miracle to remain in the picture. In Sfantu Gheorghe, Borislava Hristova and Sepsi looked to keep their own fledgling hopes alive, but Zaragoza recovered to force overtime and then won 69-68. Schio avoided an upset at the hands of a Lublin team that had to make a quick roster change, winning 70-67 and opening up a lead in the battle for the last quarterfinals spot in this group.

French Cup Round of 16

The teams in EuroCup entered the third round of this competition, joining the teams that had won in the last round. The first game was on Tuesday and second division team Chartres was looking to spring an upset, but Noemie Brochant and Charleville-Mezieres survived 63-60. Wednesday’s early game saw Kyara Linskens lead Lattes Montpellier to a 93-80 win over Roche. Even though they were quite shorthanded, Tarbes knocked the last second division side Nice out 77-55 behind Dominique Malonga and Jess-Mine Zodia. Shakayla Thomas and Monique Akoa had good games for Charnay, but Bourges used a strong first half to advance 86-73. Nobody had a faster start than Saint-Amand, which then coasted to a 79-66 win over Angers.
