Group B

This group finally started play on Monday and Paraguay took the opener 65-57 against Ecuador. The next game featured two very different approaches to this tournament as both teams had earned the opportunity to compete in World Cup qualifying, but Colombia opted out of the tournament and concentrated on this event while Venezuela used those games as additional preparation. Colombia certainly had a strong start, winning 63-48 to give themselves the inside track in the group.
