Turkish League Round 3
With Zonguldak not being able to play Kayseri, this round started with one game on Saturday and Nesibe Aydin won 66-63. A busy Sunday started with Li Yueri and Pelin Bilgic leading Bodrum to a 79-71 win over Khadijiah Cave and Botas. Besiktas has the early season advantage on Cukurova again after a 73-72 win with Temi Fagbenle leading the way as Iliana Rupert’s efforts for the hosts were not enough. The day ended with the big Istanbul rivalry and it was Emma Meesseman making sure that it was Fenerbahce getting the 82-73 win over Brianna Fraser and Galatasaray. The round finished with an exciting game on Monday as the trio of Jillian Alleyne, Courtney Hurt, and Shyla Heal helped Tarsus prevail 98-95 in overtime over Orman.

Puerto Rico
The quarterfinals continued on Tuesday and Isabela could not avoid elimination at home against Carolina. The game between Hatillo and Manati had to wait a day until Wednesday, but Manati managed to avoid elimination despite 32 points from Kristen Spolyar for the hosts. Hatillo won on Thursday to make it a perfect series for road teams, getting 30 points from Okako Adika to finish the job.
Both semifinals series started on Saturday and the first game featured plenty of fireworks that had Santurce just fending off Moca. Carolina defeated Hatillo in the other game. On Sunday, Moca was able to tie the series at home. Carolina moved within a game of advancing on Monday after an easy win over Hatillo.
New Zealand
The second weekend of play started on Friday with the Kahu defeating the Whai in the reserve game and then the result was the same when the full teams played. On Saturday, the Pouakai had their own sweep of their games against the Hoiho. The Kahu got another sweep on Sunday, this time over the Queens.
Japan
The season started this weekend with the traditional two games series format for the eight teams as the bottom half of the league was split into a second division. The Sunflowers edged the Antelopes in both games of the Friday-Saturday series. The Iris swept the Magic and the Red Wave swept the Wings. The last Saturday-Sunday series featured two wins for the Sunshine Rabbits over the Cougars, including a final game where Dimaro Jessica scored 31 points to seal the win.
Kazakhstan
It was the start of the season this week as the league returned to home team hosting instead of having single site pods and teams played two games on consecutives days for each series. Turan won a pair of games at Ertis on Tuesday and Wednesday and then Aktobe and Caspiy split a pair of games at the home of the former on Wednesday and Thursday. Turan then visited Astana on Saturday and Sunday, losing both games.
Around Europe
There were a few mismatches in the Baltic this week and one game had Santa Okockyte scoring 47 points and Gedvile Savostaite collecting 11 steals. Most major leagues that had not started already did so this weekend, including Ukraine where Andzhelika Lyashko had a 36 point game. Brailyn Tate had a 39 point game in Kosovo after the opening tournament featured a 42 point game from Reneya Hopkins and a 32 point game from Tae’lor Willard. The opening weekend in the Bosnian league featured a 14 point, 11 rebound, 11 assist triple-double for Andie Underwood. Bernada Rreshpja had a 39 point game to start the Albanian league season. Leagues also started in Romania, Norway, North Macedonia, and Israel.
Chase for Promotion
Dejah Terrell was the leading scorer in Turkey’s second division this week with 32 points while Edremit has the early lead in the race to reach the top division as the lone remaining undefeated team. In Italy’s second division, Francesca D’Angelo had a 23 rebound game while Rita Oliveira had a 31 point outburst to help her team grab a win. Iustina-Gabriela Hurmuz had a 40 point game in Romania’s second division. The second division started play in Portugal and Luana Serranho had an 11 steal game. Danielle Shafer had a 40 point game in Iceland’s second division while her teammate Carlotta Ellenrieder had 28 rebounds. Sophia Nolan had a 30 point game in Germany’s second division. The second division also started in Serbia and North Macedonia.
Notable Individual Performances
In Switzerland, Sam Breen had 30 points and Nadia Constantin had 32 points. Marina Marcetic had a 30 point game in Serbia. Becca Wann-Taylor had a 25 rebound game in Portugal. In the Netherlands, Ilse Kuijt had a 33 point game and Charlotte Van Kleef had a 32 point game. Valeria Lisii had a 20 rebound game in Moldova. There were several big statlines in Iceland this week as Abby Beeman had the highest scoring game with 39 points while Randi Brown had a 32 point game. One game had a fun individual battle as Jasmine Dickey had 33 points in the win while Brittany Dinkins had 36 points in the loss. Jessica Shepard had 31 points in Greece in a game that saw Camille Hobby score 34 points in the loss. Mari Stewart had a 30 point game in Finland. Katlin Murre had a 10 steal game in Estonia. Nina Novak had an 18 point, 11 rebound, 11 assist triple-double in Croatia.
