Turkish League Round 9
The round started on Saturday with an overtime game that saw Jessica Thomas help her team prevail 81-75 over Damiris Dantas, Lindsay Allen, and Botas. The other game was also a thriller and Erica Wheeler, Jillian Alleyne, and Courtney Hurt led the way in a 100-98 win over Jillian Alleyne, Aisha Sheppard, Courtney Hurt, and Tarsus. On Sunday, Adji Fall and Kubra Erat led Kayseri in a 91-76 win over Bodrum. Iliana Rupert was great for Cukurova in a 90-80 win over Orman. Monday’s game was an Istanbul rivalry matchup that saw Brianna Fraser and Galatasaray use a strong second half to win 74-71 at Besiktas.

All series in Japan were on a Saturday-Sunday schedule, including the Antelopes sweeping the Wings. The Magic swept the Sunshine Rabbits, which did get a 23 rebound effort from Dimaro Jessica Wariebimo Ere in the second game. The Iris swept the Sunflowers to firmly establish themselves in second place. All teams are still chasing the Red Wave, which swept the last place Cougars. Overtime was needed to settle the first game in the second division, a Koalas win over the Vickies. The Koalas swept their games with a win over the Rabbits as well and the Queen Bees won both games too. The Egrets picked up their first win on Saturday against the Aranmare and The Koalas did lose their other game while the Rabbits and Aranamare did not win either game.
Another round started on Wednesday with the S-Birds winning over the Stars. Kim Dan-Bi had 30 points in an overtime win for Woori Bank that handed BNK their first loss on Thursday. The Blue Minx won against Hana Bank on Friday and then Woori Bank defeated the S-Birds on Saturday. BNK returned on winning ways on Sunday by edging the Stars. The Blue Minx ended the week with a win over Woori Bank on Monday.
New Zealand
The round started on Thursday with the Kahu winning the reserve game against the Hoiho and then IImar’I Thomas had 32 points in the main game to finish the sweep. On Saturday, they could not repeat the results, losing both games to the Whai, although Krystal Leger-Walker did play over 40 minutes that day. The Queens won the reserve game on Sunday, but McKenzie Forbes had 39 points in the main game to make sure that the Pouakai won and Sharne Robati passed the 40 minutes mark for the day.
Around Europe
The latest cross-national competition to start was the unified competition between teams from Albania and Kosovo. Wednesday’s opener saw Caterrion Thompson score 36 points to lead Bashkimi of Kosovo to a win over Flamurtari of Albania. Abby Ogle had 10 steals for Kosovo’s Junior, but Albania’s Partizani won that game. Kosovo’s Peja won Thursday’s game over Albania’s Tirana. In domestic play in Kosovo, Reneya Hopkins had a 30 point game.
In the Adriatic, Kiana Johnson had a 30 point game and Almedina Ahmic had a 23 rebound game in their second division. In Montenegro’s domestic league, Terae Briggs managed a quick triple-double in an easy Buducnost win. In league play in Croatia, Karolina Skare had 30 points in a loss, Katarina Trehub had 21 rebounds, and Gabriela Grizelj had a 15 point, 11 rebound, 12 assist triple-double in an overtime loss. Jovana Milakovic grabbed 21 rebounds in the Bosnian league.
Chase for Promotion
Feray Laic had a 20 rebound game in Turkey’s second division. Araia Pena had a 31 point game for Ibaizabal in Spain’s third division to hand their opponents their first loss. In Lithuania’s second division, Aurelija Jurkiene and Egle Juceviciute each had 21 rebound games. She may have made an appearance in an earlier game, but this week did bring confirmation that Lena Fedulova, after taking last season off, returned to Israel’s second division to play her first season as a 51 year old. Francesca Toffolo had a 30 point game in Italy’s second division while the other group saw its last undefeated teams all lose. In Germany’s second division, Myrielle Platte-Behnke had 39 points and her teammate Sophia Nolan had 31 points in a win. The top two teams in France’s second division met and Toulouse defeated Feytiat.
There were big statlines in all the games in Iceland’s second division as Donasja Scott had the highest scoring game with 34 points. Brazil Harvey-Carr had a 30 point, 20 rebound effort in a game that saw Carlotta Ellenrieder grab 23 boards. Maria Kolyandrova had a 13 point, 14 rebound, 12 assist triple-double. Jonina Karlsdottir put up her own 16 point, 16 rebound, 14 assist triple-double while her teammate Birgit Snorradottir scored 30 points.
Notable Individual Performances
In Switzerland, Shannon Ryan had a 22 rebound game and Julia Chadwick had a 34 point game. Tylinn Carter grabbed 20 rebounds in Sweden. In Slovakia, Dominika Kollarova had a 32 point game and Olga Yatskovets had 32 points in a game where her teammate Terezia Kraislova dished out 15 assists. The lone game in Moldova saw Victoria Birna score 43 points in the win while her teammate Valeria Lisii grabbed 20 rebounds. An overtime game in Malta had Brandi Huffhines score 34 points in the win while Janai Crooms had 21 rebounds in the loss. In Iceland, Emilie Hesseldal had a 10 point, 13 rebound, 11 assist triple-double and Denia Davis-Stewart had a 30 point game. Claire Jacobs had a 35 point game in the British league. Hayley Frank had a 30 point game in Germany. In Finland, Shaiquel McGruder had a 38 point game, Jada Lewis had a 36 point game, and Mari Stewart had 34 points in a game that saw Carmen Tyson-Thomas collect 31 points and 23 rebounds for the opposition. In Belgium, Aliyah Kenny had 22 rebounds and Cate Reese had 31 points.
