Africa Game 1 December 6th-7th

Twelve teams started contesting the club championship of Africa in Dakar, Senegal. The teams were divided into three groups and each team will play three games to determine the field for the knockout round. Instead of adding these teams to the roster tracker, players who meet the criteria for inclusion are listed below:

Group A

The hosts played the first game of the tournament on Friday, welcoming an FAP squad that had strengthened since qualifiers with three foreigners, including rookie Breanna Campbell. The visitors had the better first half, but the home team ended up edging the game 57-54. This group closed the first set of games on Saturday too and Nadine Soliman and Al Ahly rolled past Queens 99-49 as they hoped to cement their status as favorites.

This group’s first game was on Friday with the defending champions Sporting Alexandria getting the 65-49 win over Friend’s. The other game was on Saturday with APR coming up with a 73-68 win over CNSS.

This group started play on Saturday with the other team from Senegal, Jeanne d’Arc stifling Makomeno 57-34. Ferroviario usually has stiff competition from Mozambique and Angola in their qualifying region, but they got the spot without contest this year and they started off with a 78-74 win over REG.
