Turkish League Round 16

The round started on Saturday with Claudia Cuic and Khadijiah Cave helping Botas get an easy 72-45 win over Bodrum. A more exciting game went to overtime before Astou Ndour-Fall, Jessica Thomas, and Robyn Parks could help get the 107-104 win over Sydney Wallace, Damla Gezgin, Jaime Nared, Erica Wheeler, and Nesibe Aydin. It was not a vintage affair between teams looking to mount a title challenge, but Dana Evans and Besiktas got past Natasha Howard and Cukurova 71-65. The top two teams and great rivals met to close the day and Galatasaray was looking to hand Fenerbahce their first loss, but Tina Charles helped the visitors buckle down in the fourth quarter for a 65-61 win. The last game of the weekend was an exciting encounter on Sunday that saw Aisha Sheppard and Courtney Hurt lift Tarsus to an 88-85 win over Zitina Aokuso and Orman.

French League Round 12

There was one game on Saturday to start the second half of the season and the return of Kendall Cooper bolstered last place Chartres, but they fell short in their bid to upset first place Bourges 81-77. Sunday started with an exciting game that saw Tiffany Clarke and Charleville-Mezieres finish a comeback late to escape Leila Lacan and Landes 64-63. Villeneuve-d’Ascq started well with a new coach, defeating Nausia Woolfolk and Landerneau 81-65. Angers won 63-51 at Tarbes. Jade Phillips and Roche surprised Lyon 78-76 to keep the gap manageable for teams to try to escape the playdowns and earn a spot in the playoffs instead. Overtime was needed at the end of the day to see who would sit in second place and Shakayla Thomas and Monique Akoa eventually helped Charnay get the 86-83 win over Elodie Naigre and Lattes Montpellier.

Polish League Round 12

Most of this round was on Saturday, starting with Poznan’s 83-53 win over Bydgoszcz. There were certainly doubts about Polkowice’s ability to play their game having lost even more players since they were unable to field a lineup for their last game, but they did have six players available in a 121-59 loss to Serena Manala, Sierra Moore, and Polonia Warszawa with Wiktoria Zasada and Weronika Jarecka holding down the fort as much as they could. Robbi Ryan had a strong game for Sleza Wroclaw, but Stephanie Jones and Gdynia won 73-60. Elena Tsineke and Gorzow finished the day with a 96-76 win over Klaudia Wnorowska and Zaglebie Sosnowiec. Lublin sits in first place for now after Laura Miskiniene and Stella Johnson led them to an 88-78 win over Savannah Wheeler and Torun on Sunday.
