EuroLeague 2nd Stage Round 5 January 22nd

Group E

All of the games in this round were on Wednesday and two teams needed a win to help their chances of advancing when they met in Mont-de-Marsan. After an early lead, Landes had to fight back in the second half to eliminate Brno 76-60 before looking at the result of the last game of the day. With the top spot in the group already decided, Cukurova was not quite going all out to maintain their perfect record and Kitija Laksa and Schio gave themselves a margin in their quest to secure second place with an 83-71 win. Illness struck Avenida at exactly the wrong time with a win needed to stay in the picture and Bourges did not want to lose their advantage towards advancing instead and did not agree to postpone the game in Salamanca. The hosts were able to field their senior team players, but could not keep up in the second half and Amy Okonkwo and company left with the 62-51 win and no worse than a third place in the group with Landes qualifying.
