Australian League Round 14

This round started on Wednesday with Sami Whitcomb and Bendigo getting the better of Haley Jones and Geelong 81-60. Thursday’s game had a big impact on the race for the last playoff spot and it took overtime for Shaneice Swain and Celeste Taylor to help Sydney finish off a 92-88 win over Jade Melbourne and Canberra. On Friday, last place Southside put up a fight behind Naz Hillmon, but lost to Townsville 90-85 on a day where Manuela Puoch started and scored 12 points for the Victoria U20 team and then traveled across the state to start and score 12 points for the Flyers. On Saturday, Stephanie Talbot and Isabelle Bourne helped Adelaide show that they were not ready to give up on the rest of their season, defeating Perth 87-69. Charli Collier and Canberra pulled into a tie in the win column for the last playoff spot with a 91-77 win over Alex Sharp and Geelong. Sunday’s game was between first place and last place and Sami Whitcomb quickly fired Bendigo out to a big lead and Marianna Tolo also had a big game in their 92-73 win over Southside, which was led by Naz Hillmon and Dallas Loughridge.
