Overseas League Updates February 1st

Turkish League Round 20

This round started on Friday with Fenerbahce’s inexplicable domestic slide continuing even with a fantastic shooting display from Tilbe Senyurek in a 75-67 loss to Aerial Powers, Crystal Dangerfield, and Kayseri. Damiris Dantas and Lindsay Allen led Botas in a 78-69 win over Besiktas. On Saturday, Orman coasted past Mya Hollingshed and Bodrum 86-66 to move to the bottom of a crowded group tied for the last playoff spot. Destanni Henderson had a great game for Bursa Ant, but they lost to Victoria Macaulay and company 90-66. Yvonne Anderson and Cukurova got a critical 60-57 win over Galatasaray in their quest for a more ideal spot in the playoff bracket.

French League Round 15

The round before the break started with two games on Friday and Villeneuve-d’Ascq made a move towards getting out of playdowns territory with an 84-72 win over Charleville-Mezieres. The other game took overtime to decide as Leila Lacan and Landes finally prevailed 76-67 over Landerneau. On Saturday, Tarbes was looking to put some distance between the playoff places and the playdown spots, but Shakayla Thomas and Charnay rallied late for a 67-65 win. Bourges built an even bigger cushion at the top of the standings with a 94-73 win over Roche. A battle to sit in a top four spot had Lattes Montpellier getting the 76-66 win over Emmanuelle Tahane and Angers. Dominique Malonga was fantastic in Lyon’s 82-61 win over Chartres.

Italian League Round 16

All of the games in this round were scheduled for Saturday ahead of the international break, but Alpo ended up not being able to host Faenza to leave four games to be played. The first game saw Derthona pick up an impressive 63-59 win at Sassari. The winner of the game would sit in the last playoff spot and it was Rosa Cupido and Battipaglia getting the 78-56 win over Brixia. Venezia coasted past San Martino di Lupari 70-47. Schio kept Campobasso from believing that they could crack the top top two after a 69-56 win.
