Australian League Round 16
The final round of the regular season started with one game on Wednesday that had no impact on the standings, but both teams were still preparing for the rest of the season as Townsville won 83-50 at Sydney. On Saturday, two eliminated teams faced off with two playoff teams and Jade Melbourne and Canberra ended their season on a high note with an 83-74 win over Veronica Burton and Bendigo. Sydney does not have momentum heading into a difficult playoff matchup, as Naz Hillmon and Southside left with an 83-67 win over Shaneice Swain and company. Two teams closing out their seasons played the first game on Sunday and Adelaide defeated Geelong 87-70. That set up the last game of the regular season between teams who were going to immediately turn around and face each to start the playoffs with who would host the opener on the line. The game more than lived up to any possible expectations as overtime was needed before Ally Wilson and Perth left with an 87-86 win over Courtney Woods and Townsville.

Italian Cup Final 4
The cup winner was crowned this weekend with the recent format of being played at the same venue as the men’s competition continued. In Friday’s first semifinal, Venezia eventually built up a solid lead to get past Derthona 71-59. The other team that got a bye to this round also trailed at the start as Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah and Blanca Quinonez had Campobasso looking to advance to the final and send a message for the playoffs. Ivana Dojkic and Schio took the lead in the second half though and got the 82-73 win to set up Sunday’s final with the top two teams. Schio took the lead early in the game and it held up for a 54-45 win over Venezia as the teams figure to be competing for the championship too later this year.

French League Round 16
Only one game was played on the Saturday after the international break and Chartres’s early lead held up in a 72-71 win over Ameryst Alston and Angers, giving them momentum even if the game is unlikely to figure into the playdown standings. On Sunday, Vaciana Gomis and Roche prevailed 83-77 in double-overtime over Shakayla Thomas and Charnay, but pending the results of appealing a points deduction, they still have a tough path out of the playdowns. Leila Lacan put in an incredibly clutch performance in Landes’s 79-74 win over Dayshanette Harris and Lyon. Landerneau has a chance of climbing above Tarbes for the last playoff spot now after a 70-61 win. A battle for second place had Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu and Lattes Montpellier rolling past Charleville-Mezieres 86-57. Bourges is close to sealing up the top seed after Amy Okonkwo led them in a 78-63 win over Carla Leite and Villeneuve-d’Ascq.
