Overseas League Updates March 30th

Spanish League Round 27

Most of this round was on Saturday, starting with the hopes of a miracle fading for Lotta-Maj Lahtinen and Ardoi after Alba Prieto and Ibaeta forced overtime and prevailed 81-74. Chloe Bibby and Girona continued to roll with an 82-69 win over Zaragoza. Seehia Ridard helped Sedis defeat Ensino 82-72. The day ended with an immediate rematch of the cup final and Lou Lopez Senechal and Jairis quickly proved that the result was not a fluke after a 64-60 win over Avenida. Celta got a critical 51-50 win over Gran Canaria. Marta Hermida and Araski avoided falling into the danger zone with their own 74-59 win over Gernika. Valencia is solidly in second place after a 76-65 win over Mariam Coulibaly and Joventut Badalona.

French League Round 21

The penultimate round of the regular season meant simultaneous tipoffs on Sunday. Bourges did not take their foot off the gas, hurting Landerneau’s playoff hopes with a 71-34 win. Lyon is also set in their seed and they lost to Charnay 71-66. Charleville-Mezieres defeated Angers 65-59 in a direct battle for seeding. Chartres seems unlikely to escape regardless of who joins them in the playdowns, but did not help themselves with an 87-54 loss to Villeneuve-d’Ascq. Lattes Montpellier remained in position for a round of homecourt advantage in the playoffs with an 80-59 win over Roche. Tarbes lost 90-64 to Leila Lacan and Landes, but still has the edge for the last playoff spot.
