Okzhetpes won at Caspiy on Monday to win the bronze medal series and end the season in Kazakhstan.
The season in Lebanon also finished this week as the finals started on Monday. Al Riyadi had an easy win in the opener, but Homenetmen won their first home game on Wednesday. Al Riyadi had another easy win on Friday and then they got the road win on Saturday to clinch the championship. The bronze medal game was also on Saturday and Azour defeated Sporting Club Beirut.
Americas
A new week in Brazil started with two games on Tuesday and Sao Jose dos Campos won at Maringa while Campinas won at Cerrado. Ourinhos defeated Santo Andre on Wednesday and then there were two games on Thursday. Mesquita had an easy win at Blumenau, but it was closer for Sampaio in their win over Campinas. Corinthians got the win at Maringa on Friday. There were three games on Sunday, starting with Cerrado’s strong second half getting them a win over Santo Andre. Araraquara won at Mesquita and Ourhinhos defeated Sao Jose dos Campos.
The week in Mexico started with a Wednesday-Thursday series that was an easy sweep for Cancun over Leon that featured a 33 point game for Dyaisha Fair in the opener. There were two Thursday-Friday series, including Chihuahua continuing to roll with their sweep of Tamaulipas. Monterrey had two easy wins over Veracruz. The Friday-Saturday series saw Aguascalientes win both games against Irapuato.
Australia
All of the conferences in NBL1 were in action, including a busy week in the South that featured a 42 point, 12 rebound, 10 assist triple-double for Maddison Rocci in an overtime win for the Keilor Thunder. The Frankston Blues lost a game despite 30 points from Marta Hermida, but bounced back with another 35 points from Hermida and a 38 point game for Lou Brown. Taisheka Porchia and Jaz Shelley turned in 32 point games in wins and Haliegh Reinohl closed out the round with a 31 point game.
The North conference featured a 20 rebound effort from Ashley Arlen in a double-overtime win for the Brisbane Capitals. Chelsey Perry had the highest scoring game with 33 points and Shannon Ryan had a 31 point game. The Central Districts Lions had a good shot at their first win in the Central conference, but Iva Belosevic had a 37 point game for the Southern Tigers in a comeback to escape by a point.
The Eastern Suns got their first win in the West conference thanks to a 35 point game from Karly Murphy. The Perth Redbacks got a pair of wins after Anneli Maley opened with a 28 effort and then Georgia Dennehy scored 32 points the next night. Marena Whittle had a 31 point game and Teige Morrell had a 34 point game.
The Newcastle Falcons lost their first game of the season in the East conference to the Bankstown Bruins. That left the North Bears as the lone undefeated team after they got a big win even though Kristina Moore had 31 points for Inner West Bulls. Madeleine Norris had a 30 point game in an overtime win for the Sutherland Sharks. Sitaya Fagan had a tremendous weekend leading the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence with 32 and 31 point games.
Sarae Beveridge had the highest scoring game in Big V this week with a 35 point effort in the top division. In the middle division, Amelia Smith had a 32 point game and Asia Avinger had a 30 point game.
The regular season in North West Tasmania concluded on Tuesday and the biggest game more than lived up to the hype with the last playoff spot on the line. The Somerset Heat started well, getting 34 points from Bailie Wickham, but the Latrobe Demons trimmed the deficit and then had the better second half to get a win behind a 43 point effort from Sarah O’Neill. A possible future playoff matchup saw the Devonport Warriors get an overtime win over the Penguin Blues. Macey Crawford had 32 points for the top seed Burnie Tigers in a win over the Smithton Saints. The Wynyard Wildcats had a quiet end to the season, letting Nikki Parker outscore them herself with 30 points for the Ulverstone Redhoppers.
Europe
Kam finished a sweep of Kriva Palanka to win the championship in North Macedonia. The series between Trencin from the top division and Poprad in the second division in Slovakia was played this weekend with Friday’s opener ending in a tie before Trencin had an easy win on Sunday. Sporting defeated Coimbroes again to sweep the championship series in Portugal’s second division. Roseto won their playoff series over Costa Masnaga in Italy’s second division to secure promotion, but the other series will need a deciding game. Torino won the last playout series in a sweep over Civitanova.
The tournaments to determine which teams would be promoted to Spain’s third division next season were completed this week. Teams were split into four groups for round-robin play with the winners automatically securing spots. The second place teams at each site met on Sunday to determine the other two spots. Stadium Casablanca finished undefeated in one group in Manresa and the hosts were undefeated in the other group. The final spot at this site went to Isla Bonita after their win over Lucentum Alicante. Over in Las Palmas, one group a three-way tie at the top and the tiebreaker went to Distrito Olimpico for the automatic spot. The hosts finished undefeated in the other group, setting up a final game that the University of Vigo won over Gramenet.
