2029 WNBA Mock Draft 1.0

University of Oklahoma freshman guard Aaliyah Chavez.

Today, we conclude the ending to this year’s edition of the WNBA Mock Drafts. I am releasing the first ever edition of the 2029 WNBA Mock Draft. Three weeks ago, I released the 2026 WNBA Mock Draft 4.0. Last week, I released the 2027 WNBA Mock Draft 3.0 and the 2028 WNBA Mock Draft 2.0.

These players are still getting adjusted to their college seasons and are just freshmen. Some players get big minutes to play and some do not. Because these players are just freshmen, there will be other versions of this draft, and it will be updated in the future.

There will also be a new WNBA expansion team joining the league. The city of Detroit will welcome back the WNBA after their WNBA team left the city after 11 years (1998-2009) and relocated to Tulsa. That team (Detroit Shock) also won multiple championships in Detroit. That brings the total number of franchises to 17 in 2029. This is why there are 17 draft picks in the first and second round.
