The first game on Saturday was for the bronze medal and Australia had the emotional edge in front of their home fans and with Lauren Jackson announcing that the game would be her last appearance in the national team uniform. Canada tried to keep up, but there was no hope for them in the second half on their way to a 95-65 loss. China was shorthanded again in the final and put in a reasonable effort, but the United States proved to be too much again and won 83-61 behind A’ja Wilson, who grabbed MVP honors as well. The United States joins France in qualifying for the Olympics.
