Turkish League Round 15 January 13th-15th

The round started on Friday and Satou Sabally and Breanna Stewart were an unstoppable duo for Fenerbahce in a 106-69 win over Feyonda Fitzgerald and Antalya. Saturday’s first game had implications at the bottom of the standings as Marie Benson and Rize avoided falling too far out of the picture with an 85-82 win over Ozge Kavurmacioglu and Bursa. Megan Walker led her team in a 74-56 win over Jelena Dubljevic and Orman. Azura Stevens paced Galatasaray in an 83-57 win over Cankaya University. On Sunday, Lyndra Weaver and Juicy Landrum had the chance to get Kayseri out of the tie in the danger zone, but Alexis Prince and Hatay just managed to escape with a 72-71 win. Botas surprised Chelsea Gray and Cukurova 66-56. Dana Evans continued to pull Besiktas up the standings with their 65-60 win over Nesibe Aydin.

Spanish League Round 17 January 14th-15th

Another round started on Saturday and Ibaeta edged Erin Whalen and Bembibre 70-66. Avenida was back at full strength in a 73-54 win over Gernika. Estudiantes won 67-56 at Araski. The two teams at the bottom of the standings met with new players brought in and Vionise Pierre-Louis and Leganes got closer to safety with a 79-67 win over Aisha Sheppard and Tenerife. Zaragoza needed a strong second half to leave Lugo with a 69-65 win over Ensino. Valencia rolled past Sedis 82-46. On Sunday, Jairis faded in the second half against Sika Kone and Gran Canaria despite Erika De Souza turning back the clock and their 75-63 loss puts them in the danger zone by tiebreaker. Girona stayed at the top of the standings with their second half propelling them to a 65-58 win over Barcelona.

One game in this round was played on Saturday and Iliana Rupert led Bologna past San Giovanni Valdarno 89-53. Travel issues for Sassari meant that their game could not be played on Sunday. A rare win for a league newcomer against an established team had Brixia prevailing 57-49 over Faenza. Robyn Parks and Campobasso edged Sesto San Giovanni 61-58 as both teams jockey for playoff positioning. Schio got an unexpectedly tough test from Crema by perhaps getting a little too cute with their lineup, but Rhyne Howard helped them prevail 73-70. San Martino di Lupari edged Moncalieri 57-55. Jessica Shepard and Venezia closed the day with an 82-74 win over Ragusa.

The round started on Saturday with Nikolett Vincze and Pecsi being kept winless by BEAC 102-64. Gyor now just has domestic affairs to deal with, but they found themselves in a battle before Reka Dombai led them past Sam Fuehring and Csata late 87-74. Sopron won 80-53 at Szigetszentmiklos and MTK won 81-60 at Cegled. On Sunday, PEAC defeated Vasas 76-56. A game with seeding implications for the postseason saw DVTK come back to win 71-66 at Szekszard.

Half of the games in this round were on Saturday and Roche was the last team to return from their break and Tima Pouye lifted them past Charleville-Mezieres 99-66 as they charged out of halftime. Tarbes won 66-60 over Toulouse while Yvonne Anderson paced Bourges in a 72-65 win over Saint-Amand. On Sunday, Landerneau got an important 74-64 win in their effort to steer towards safety as Landes continues to trip up every time it looks close to playing up to preseason expectations. Having all of their senior pros available did not help Lyon as Lattes Montpellier continued to have their number with an 85-78 win. Kennedy Burke was unstoppable in Villeneuve-d’Ascq’s 84-69 win over Angers.
