Overseas League Updates March 23rd

EuroCup Semifinals Game 1

Both semifinals concluded on Thursday with the hosts starting behind. Top seed Reyer had fought off deficits in all of the other rounds, but even a 69-60 win this time left them short against Azura Stevens and 13 seed Galatasaray 134-118. 7 seed Villeneuve-d’Ascq felt good about their position at home and were within touching distance of the lead after three quarters, but Sandrine Gruda and 19 seed Lyon went on to win outright and push the final margin out to 155-149.

Israeli League Upper Group Round 5

The playoffs were going to be set after the games on Thursday. The best game of the day saw Maccabi Ramat Gan’s import trio of Jaime Nared, Brittany Brown, and Jillian Alleyne lead them to an 82-81 win over Kaila Charles and Hapoel Rishon Lezion for a spot in the semifinals. With a clear opportunity, it was a terrible time for Maccabi Haifa to be down a key player and Adut Bulgak and Tal Lev tried to keep them in it, but Maccabi Ashdod won 89-79. Ramat Hasharon then took advantage of Elitzur Ramla being locked into their seed to win 66-61 and grab the last playoff spot.
