Checking out HoopQueens – Toronto women’s basketball summer league.

HoopQueens Summer League

I recently had the oppurtunity to go check out HoopQueens summer league. It’s a five week summer league in which it gives homegrown athletes an oppurtunity to extend their playing careers as professional basketball players.

I was missing the WNBA Canada Game really badly because while I do enjoy and keep up with WNBA action during the summer, there is nothing quite like seeing live women’s basketball action and driving or flying to US states with WNBA teams is just not going to work out for me. I was glad I could come and watch a game.

The 5 week summer league began last Sunday, June 4th and they play every Sunday until July 2nd. They play from 2 pm to 6 pm at Humber College North Campus. I was able to catch Week 2 action between Team Roadrunners versus Team Sultans. Team Sultans easily took care of business and were able to win by double-digits versus Team Roadrunners. They defeated them by a score of 65-45.

I enjoyed my experience and I was glad to see people come out and support women’s basketball. I saw all types of people come out and support our fellow Canadian women’s basketball players. Basketball continues to grow in Canada and we are starting to see the changes slowly.

If you would like to come out and support HoopQueens, you can buy tickets here. You can take your families, your friends and come support our Canadian women’s basketball players.
