Polish League Round 14

Another full round was played on Wednesday, starting with Elin Gustavsson and Lublin leaving Pruszkow winless 78-51. Chloe Bibby led Gorzow past Agnieszka Skobel and Poznan 87-72. Rennia Davis and Arka Gdynia fended off Kayla Wells and Polonia Warszawa 76-70. Asia Strong and La Mama Kapinga Maweja helped Torun win 80-69 against Zaglebie Sosnowiec to create a lead in the battle for the last playoff spot. Digna Strautmane and Sleza Wroclaw withstood a challenge from KeKe Calloway and Bydgoszcz to win 84-77.

Spanish League Round 15

All games in this round had simultaneous tipoffs on Wednesday to reach the halfway point of the season and determine cup qualification, although very little was up for grabs still. Araski edged Sedis 77-76 as both teams were looking to put some more distance between themselves and the danger zone. Valencia made sure that they would sit in the lead, stifling Girona 57-47. Ferrol defeated Ibaeta 66-58 to secure their spot in the cup. Estudiantes handed Bembibre another loss 67-52. Avenida signed a player from Jairis in time for their meeting and dominated the second half in a 73-44 win. Both teams brought in veterans to try to steer towards safety, but even an excellent game from Adji Fall could not get Gran Canaria the win that would have created a tie between safety and the drop and they fell 84-65 to Kristina Rakovic and Barcelona. Gernika also made a signing and Stephanie Watts led them to a 79-69 win over Celta and held their position in the standings. All those results meant that Ensino’s impressive 80-66 win over Zaragoza behind Esther Castedo still left them out of the Queen’s Cup, but kept them in a tie for the last playoff spot.
