League Round 21 February 2

A game from Round 21 was brought forward to Friday with neither team involved in the cup and Marta Marcinkowska and Pruszkow are still winless after losing to La Mama Kapinga Maweja, Asia Strong, and Torun 94-67.

Cup:

The cup was played in the usual format over the weekend with the top five teams joined by the top team in the second division. Friday’s first round started with a great game that saw Stephanie Jones and Gorzow just get past Marissa Kastanek and Arka Gdynia 73-68. Second division representative Sokolow gave Zaglebie Sosnowiec a test well into the second half before losing 96-71. The first semifinal on Saturday was a quick turnaround for Zaglebie Sosnowiec and Lublin entered the competition with a 79-72 win behind the trio of Aleksandra Ziemborska, Veronica Burton, and Bria Goss. Polkowice was the other team with a bye and they defeated Nora Wentzel and Gorzow 90-77. Sunday’s final was a tough test for Lublin, which was the more shorthanded of the teams and Burton and Goss having good games was not enough and Stephanie Mavunga paced Polkowice in a 91-68 win.
