The Canadian Senior Women’s Basketball team is back in action tomorrow morning at 6:30 am EST when they face Japan. The team will look to secure their spot in the quarterfinals with a win.
Canada so far has defeated Serbia and France and will look to remain undefeated when they face Japan. Japan is currently ranked 8th in the FIBA rankings and has split their two games of group play. They easily defeated Mali on opening day and then lost a close game to Serbia the following day. They have accumulated three points and need two more points to advance to the quarterfinals.
The roster features some interesting players, but one name in particular stands out. Her name is Ramu Tokashiki. She played for the Seattle Storm from 2015 to 2017 and was named to the All-Rookie Team in her first year. For that reason, she is the star player to watch for.
Japan will look to make things difficult for Canada because their guards will try to attack Canada’s posts and will look to get them in foul trouble. Other than that, Canada should be fine and they should be able to handle Japan. I think Canada will win this game and improve to 3-0.
