FIBA Europe Competitions Coverage November 15th-17th

EuroLeague Round 4 November 15th-16th

Group A:

Most games were on Tuesday this week ahead of the national team break and it started in this group with Megan Gustafson and Olympiacos seeking their first win again, but falling to Szekszard 78-69. At the other end of the standings, USK Praha was handed their first loss despite good games from Valeriane Vukosavljevic and Alyssa Thomas as Stephanie Mavunga helped Polkowice leave with an 83-80 win. Valencia joined the tie at the top of the standings with a 76-68 win over Bourges. Emma Meesseman made an immediate impact on the continental level for Fenerbahce in their 85-67 win over Bologna.

Group B:

In this group, Marina Mabrey and Schio pulled away in the second half to keep Landes winless 78-58. Mechelen kept it close for a half in Salamanca, but Avenida won 79-72. Sopron looked ready to cruise early, but even with missing players, Girona was able to hand them their first loss 63-60 and create a giant tie at the top of the standings. The only game on Wednesday was in Mersin and Cukurova moved closer to the qualification places with a 77-58 win over Arella Guirantes and DVTK.

All the games except for one were played on Wednesday to help teams get to the international break sooner. Ramat Hasharon definitely needs the time to figure out a few things as they lost to Crvena zvezda 79-61 despite a good game from Alisia Jenkins. Panathinaikos had another lineup change with Emily Potter returning alongside Arica Carter and a 67-59 win over Natasha Mack and Lublin sealed qualification.
