Australian League Round 15 February 22nd-26th
The local rivals met to start this round on Wednesday as both teams are preparing for the playoffs and having their planned final roster was not enough for Melbourne in an 81-67 loss to Kayla Thornton and Southside. Two teams looking for any positive signs at the end of the season met on Friday with the trio of Keely Froling, Tiana Mangakahia, and Jocelyn Willoughby leading Sydney to a 101-91 win over Jacinta Monroe and Adelaide. Canberra was just working towards finishing their season and gave plenty of shots to Shaneice Swain and Brittany Smart in their 103-95 loss to Tiffany Mitchell, Mia Murray, and Melbourne. Perth got the key win in Saturday’s other game by a 99-78 margin over Bendigo in the race for the last playoff spot. On Sunday, Keely Froling and Sydney looked set to play spoiler, but Townsville got the 73-72 win with Karlie Samuelson and Tianna Hawkins leading the way.

Polish Cup February 24th-26th
The cup was contested this weekend in the traditional format, which meant a second-division representative joining the top five teams in the upper division and it was a historic name this year, but Wisla Krakow found themselves overmatched in a 90-46 loss to Zaglebie Sosnowiec. Friday’s other game was more competitive and went back and forth before Lublin’s last surge led them to a 71-65 win over Arka Gdynia. The semifinals were on Saturday and Gorzow entered proceedings with Alanna Smith leading them again with some help from Tilbe Senyurek in their 99-78 win over Sparkle Taylor, Aleksandra Stanacev, and Lublin. Polkowice won the other game 94-79 behind Weronika Gajda even though Batabe Zempare and Jessica January had good games for Zaglebie Sosnowiec. The final was on Sunday with a trophy and the psychological edge for the league title on the line. Polkowice was not at full strength, but Erica Wheeler helped them start very strong on their way to a 94-68 win as Alanna Smith did not get all the help that she needed for Gorzow.
