Group A:
Wednesday was the last day of group play and the United States bounced back from disappointment by rolling to a 106-44 win. That result meant that Cuba had to wait for the result of the game in the third timeslot to see if they would avoid elimination. They did not and now feel even worse about their earlier late game struggle that resulted in a big overtime loss. Argentina grabbed that last spot with a strong fourth quarter to get a 58-56 win, but their fast start did not lead to them winning by a big enough margin to climb above Venezuela in the tiebreaker.

Group B:
The first game in this group had no bearing on the standings for either team and Canada won 88-48 to end a miserable tournament for the Dominican Republic. The last game of the day did have plenty of impact on the matchups for Friday’s quarterfinals and it would determine the order of the last two teams in this group to advance. It was all Colombia in the second half to get a 59-42 win and show hosts Mexico that they are a still a step below the more established teams.
