2024 NCAA Career Stats Watch

One of the storylines of this college season will be players chasing history in the record books. This page will keep track of progress towards those marks over the course of the season with the goal of updating the charts the same night as the game. The starting mark of remaining games is the largest number possible even though those last rows will likely have to be removed over the course of the season based on team performance. The top of each chart shows the current career total, the total being tracked, the current season average in that category, and how many more games would be needed at the current season average to surpass the target. The rest of the chart shows the average for only remaining games to set the record, depending on the number of games to be played.

The biggest career record chase to watch is obviously Caitlin Clark’s points as a repeat of last season’s numbers would propel her to the NCAA record held by Kelsey Plum. She is also poised to make a run up the assists chart as well even if the top spot seems out of reach there so the initial target will be the current century’s mark set by Courtney Vandersloot. Clark is only barely the active leader in points though as Dyaisha Fair has also had a great career. She is unlikely to hit the top spot given her past seasons as she has already played four seasons to three for her counterpart, but she should be able to set the record for players who have had the benefit of additional stats from the 2020-21 season that did not count towards eligibility set by Ashley Joens and then go further.

Updated 4/7

1/16: The scenario of Iowa playing on the first day of the conference tournament, which has always been an extraordinarily remote possibility, has been removed.

1/21: Dyaisha Fair ties Ashley Joens for the highest point total for a player who had five full seasons of play when adding the 2020-21 season. Her target has been updated to top five on the overall list, Brittney Griner. While it is slightly riskier, a game has been removed from her maximum possibility total.

2/15: One game was removed from the maximum games Syracuse could play due to their solidified NCAA tournament status. With Caitlin Clark surpassing Kelsey Plum in total points, her target has changed to Lynette Woodard’s pre-NCAA mark from the AIAW era. Her maximum games remaining was also adjusted to Iowa’s current postseason positioning.

2/25: After Dyaisha Fair passed Brittney Griner, her target was updated to Kelsey Mitchell and the top three.

2/28: After Caitlin Clark passed Lynette Woodard’s career total at the highest available level of college basketball, her target has been updated to Miriam Walker-Samuels, the next prominent four year college mark from her career in the NAIA.

2/29: Dyaisha Fair’s maximum number of games has been updated to account for Syracuse’s conference tournament placement.

3/30: After surpassing Miriam Walker-Samuels’s career points total, Caitlin Clark’s target was updated to Grace Beyer, who just finished her career this season. After passing Courtney Vandersloot move to third on the NCAA Division I career assists list, her target was updated to Andrea Nagy.
