French League Round 22 April 6th

The regular season concluded on Saturday with simultaneous tipoffs. Two teams stuck in their seeds met with Bourges rolling past Lattes Montpellier 91-58. There was certainly more at stake in Angers’s 71-66 win over Tarbes as that enabled the hosts to seize the last playoff spot. That meant that Charleville-Mezieres’s 79-73 win over Roche behind Sara Chevaugeon and Amel Bouderra would also count in the standings during the upcoming double round-robin among the bottom four teams to stay in the division. Landerneau starts at the bottom of that group because of point deductions and did not build any momentum for that stretch run after a 94-60 loss to Sam Fuehring and Landes. Villeneuve-d’Ascq tried out the lineup that they will need to utilize to win the championship as the top seed, defeating Saint-Amand 85-61. Shakayla Thomas helped Charnay climb above reeling Lyon, which lost 85-69 even with Shyla Heal and Alexia Chery doing what they could.
