French Cup 2nd Round November 8th

The four teams in the top division who are not in continental competition joined the competition at this stage on Tuesday, drawn alongside six teams from lower divisions that won in the first round with those teams marked with their divisions below. Toulouse has had a dream start to their season and it looked good early in their game even with rotation changes giving more opportunities to players like Noemie Brochant. Ashunae Durant and Monaco had other ideas in the second half, coming back to win 75-73. Feytiat may have an early lead in the second division and got a good game from Emily Prugnieres, but Marie-Paule Foppossi and Tarbes made sure that they were not getting too far ahead of themselves after eliminating them 73-53. Le Poinconnet was the third division team that was invited to the competition and they had already knocked out a second division team, but Chartres ended that run 79-67, only for the result to be reversed later as the visitors had played an ineligible player. Aulnoye has a solid roster, but Saint-Amand avoided the upset 59-51. Victoria Harris and Strasbourg started poorly, but still managed to knock off a higher division team with a 79-69 win over Landerneau.

Landes is the surprise of the winless teams after losing to Charleville-Mezieres 71-65. Isabelle Yacoubou and Tarbes nearly made it work with six players, but Anete Steinberga and Bourges had the energy late to win 74-70. The first game on Sunday was Lyon’s 66-62 win over Roche. Toulouse was close to a dream start behind Noemie Brochant, but Lattes Montpellier’s late comeback helped them leave with a 68-66 win.
