Spanish League Round 15 December 30th
A round of simultaneous tipoffs was played on Friday to mark the halfway point of the regular season as one spot was up for grabs in the Queen’s Cup for the team that would emerge from a giant pack to sit just inside the top half. Rachel Hollivay and Gran Canaria fell out of contention for that spot with a 77-68 loss to Jolene Anderson and Barcelona. Ibaeta also fell short, losing to Tanaya Atkinson and their Basque Country neighbors Araski 75-73. Bembibre started the day at the top of the tiebreaker, but had an extremely tough game and their 81-61 loss to Zaragoza pushed them well out of the running. A game that had no realistic cup implications had Laura Pena and Sedis surprising Avenida 70-63. The winner of the game in Madrid would certainly have the edge in the race for the cup sport and Nadia Fingall and Estudiantes were emphatic in their claim in an 82-39 win over Ensino, but tiebreakers did not end up needing to be applied. Tenerife continues to be in deep trouble after a 96-59 loss to Girona. Valencia sits at the top of the standings by tiebreaker after an 86-49 win over Leganes, which sits in the danger zone by tiebreaker. Lashann Higgs and Jairis could not push higher after losing to Gernika 78-70.

The last round of the year started on Wednesday with PEAC winning 84-62 over BEAC. Ezi Magbegor and Sopron rolled to a 104-43 win over Cegled on Thursday. The other game went to overtime before Sam Fuehring and Csata finished their comeback and won 62-57 over Petra Pusztai and MTK. Kitti Kovacs and Pecsi remained winless after losing to Angelika Kiss, Cheridene Green, and DVTK 98-67 on Friday. Cyesha Goree led Szekszard to an 86-53 win over Vasas.
