Overseas League Updates March 19th

French League Round 17 March 16th-19th

One game in this round was moved for international play and then there was a rare Thursday game that saw Angers’s backcourt of Alexis Peterson and Leila Lacan lead them past Leia Dongue and Landerneau 99-72. Saturday’s first game saw Hind Ben Abdelkader fire Villeneuve-d’Ascq past Saint-Amand 74-55. Lattes Montpellier rolled past Roche 79-52. Kalis Loyd led Toulouse, but getting anything from Lyon would be tough and they fell 83-70. Sunday’s game went into overtime and young Carla Leite was incredibly impressive alongside Isabelle Yacoubou in getting Tarbes a 72-67 win over Landes.

Spanish League Round 26 March 15th-19th

Leganes knew that they had a critical stretch of games to escape danger and that started with the last game from Round 21 on Wednesday with Vionise Pierre-Louis helping them build a big lead on their nearest rivals, but Shante Evans and Jairis came back in dramatic fashion to win 64-62 and create a giant gap below the safe teams. The situation got worse for Leganes on Saturday when they lost to Mariam Coulibaly, Joy Brown, and Ibaeta. In Lugo, Ensino won 67-55 against Estudiantes.
