All teams started the regular season on Wednesday with the sixteen teams divided into two groups that will play a double round-robin to determine which four teams in each group advance.
Group A
Defending champions Fenerbahce appropriately opened the season and quickly flexed their strength in this group with a 96-66 win over Valencia. Schio got the last piece of their puzzle with Dorka Juhasz making her return to Europe and defeated Lublin 70-50. Lyon did not get anyone back in their lineup and ran out of steam again in a 67-57 loss to DVTK. One team knew that it would record a debut win and Zaragoza made sure that it would be them at home as they breezed past Sepsi 85-57.

Melis Gulcan’s tremendous shooting display was not enough to keep Cukurova in the game in this group’s opener and Mariella Fasoula and Avenida left with an 82-77 win. USK Praha had significant changes to make on their roster, but Ezi Magbegor certainly had a good start in their 85-63 win over Landes. The game of the day saw Kennedy Burke help Villeneuve-d’Ascq force overtime and then prevail 93-92 over Gyor and their duo of Kristine Anigwe and Debora Dubei. Cecilia Zandalasini took on a bigger scoring role to make sure that Virtus Bologna would end the day with a 90-69 win over Polkowice.
