Americas Olympic Pre-Qualifying Day 1 November 9th

The tournament to determine the last two teams in the Olympic qualifiers started on Thursday in Medellin. Canada, which had its WNBA players after trying to bypass this phase without them, started with an easy 81-39 win over Venezuela. Puerto Rico did not have momentum after slumping to last place at the Pan American games, but being able to strengthen the squad for this tournament was critical. Arella Guirantes refused to let them lose just getting them the edge in an 80-79 win over Yuliany Paz and Colombia and possibly securing the result that they will need in th end.
