Spanish League Quarterfinals Game 1 April 24th-25th

The playoffs started with one game in Madrid on Wednesday. Estudiantes knew that they would benefit from winning at home before having to hit the road for the final game and had tremendous starts in both halves behind Marena Whittle and Stephanie Mawuli. Facing a large deficit, Leonie Fiebich and Zaragoza fought back in the fourth quarter to only lose 74-65 and give themselves a manageable deficit at home. Home wins leading to seeding upsets was also a story on Thursday as Ibaeta started well, but Valencia finally found some rhythm late to bring home a 60-59 lead. They may have just gotten the last playoff spot, but Ferrol did not back down at all, sending top seed Avenida back to Salamanca behind 61-49 and needing to do a lot in the second game on Sunday. The game that ended up being the biggest road win was between the two closest teams in seeding in Murcia with Girona returning home with a 60-50 advantage over Jairis.
