FIBA Women’s World Cup: Canada splits its final two games in group play. What comes next?

The Canadian Women’s Basketball Team split it’s final two games in group play to finish with a record of 4-1 and finished in the top 2 in Group B. They lost to Australia in a close game and then preceded to win in a blowout against Mali.

They now head into quarterfinals against Puerto Rico who finished with a 2-3 record and had 7 points in Group A. The quarterfinals get underway tomorrow and Canada plays the next day at 12:30 am EST. Whoever wins that game moves on, whoever loses is eliminated from competition.

If Canada advances from the quarterfinals, they face the winner of the USA versus Serbia quarterfinal. It’s not an easy task for Canada, so they still will need to play their best basketball of the year otherwise they will go home.
